i am thinking about taking a program that is 12 months long and will give the exam vouchers to take Comptia A+, Networking+ and Security+.

There are not many opportunities in my area for schools and i was wondering if this would help me get entry level work in an IT Field or Tech Support Field?

Thank you for your time.

Yes I am a Dell employee as a Tier 2 IT tech. Got promoted in three weeks. But don't stop thereating, go for those other two to really stand out. But certs are not everything, you need job.skills as well. I can say the military helped me there. It takes time.
Yes it will help alot. I am A+ certified myself. Working on my Sec+ and Net+ as we speak. Luckily, my company is paying for it.

Make sure you study the material, not just connect the dots. Too many people use brain dumps and have no clue what the material means. Once you have some certs under your belt, update your resume, and post it to LinkedIN and Indeed and put your name out there.

and the A+ cert helped you get a job?

thanks i think i will try it and see if i can get a job i just dont want to waste all my time and money and not be able to get a job.

Certs will definitely help you get a job. What kind of job you can get with the certs will depend on your experience/other education though. I would think you could could swing a lower level job with just certs though, I have a few coworkers that got their first jobs with just certifications and no degree/experience in the field.

Thanks this is great information to have as i have been lost for a long time

One thing to consider. It is competitive there. Just because you have the certs, another candidate could have the certs AND experience. So just don't quick when the first company does not hire you.

Yeah, without additional experience or education, you'll be pretty low on the totem pole. From my experience, it goes related experience>degree>certifications. E.g., if you have certs and someone else has certs+experience, they'll get the job. If you have certs and they have certs, whoever has more experience or does better on the interview will get the job. Obviously the best combo is all three, but plenty of people make it with just one or two.

Getting that first job in the field is the hardest part. Once you land a job in the field, you start building your resume in terms of experience, and experience is huge when it comes to working your way up the food chain, and competing for jobs.

Long story short, if you want to go into the information tech field, certifications never hurt, will make you more money, and can give you a leg up on other applicants for jobs.
