Transfer flash drive to hard drive external device

How do I transfer photo images from a flash drive to an external hard drive, using a MacBook Pro lap top and a Mac compatible external hard drive.

Connect the flash drive in one of the computer's USB ports. Connect the external drive to another USB port on the computer.

Select the photos you want to transfer, copy, and paste from the flash drive on to the external drive.
