[SOLVED] Transfering windows 10 license to new HDD

I had an activated copy of windows 10 on my laptop.

I needed to replace the existing HDD with an SSD, and while I did that I installed a version of windows 10 I had downloaded from the internet.

I have the previous Product ID and Key.

Now I can not transfer the license to this new system no matter how ever I try.

I tried using slui.exe 4, to no avail.

How can I do this? Please help.

Are you certain that the version you installed is the same as what was installed?
This is on the same system, aside from the drive swap?

Making certain assumptions, you should likely talk to support over it.

I may have installed a different version, but the system is certainly the same.

If you have a Windows 10 Home license, it will not work in the Pro version. Also, as far as I know, if you connect the license key to your Microsoft account, it will not ask for a key again in subsequent installations on the same computer.

A new install on a different drive in this same system needs no messing around with "transfer".
No slui, nada.

But..you MUST be installing the same version. Home == Home, Pro == Pro, etc.

There is only one valid place to source this...direct from MS.
