Question Transferring data from laptop to a external harddrive, EXTREMELY slow!

Hello.

I just bought a External harddrive today, and i want to copy some of my data from my D: Drive to the External harddrive...

But the speed of which it tranfers is at like 10KB/sec to 1MB/sec

It uses USB 3.0
Im not quite sure what i can do to make it faster, but i know this is unusually slow.

What is the nature of the files you're transfering? How many files and what is the typical file size? What is the spec of your computer? And what external device? Did you format the external drive before use? Is there any damage to the usb cable? Have you tried another usb cable?
