Hi all,

I'm currently building a new pc with all new hardware apart from the power supply and ssd's/ hdd from my current rig and its my first time building a pc. I wanted to do a clean install of windows 10 on the new machine using the same ssd it is currently installed on. My current rig was brought from overclockers with windows 7 pre installed on it and I upgraded to windows 10 with the free upgrade offer before it expired. I just wanted to know if this was possible or if I need a new copy of windows for the new machine? If I can do the clean install using my existing copy of win 10 then how do I go about doing it? Many thanks in advance for any help.

I don't believe there's any guarantee with a new build, but Windows 10 does allow you to make 'significant hardware changes'. Ensure you're on the latest build, and you have linked your OS with a Microsoft account - that gives you the best chance of successful reactivation on the new build.

Shouldn't actually be relevant these days (at least officially - in practice, it still might be).

OEM W7 became "Windows 10" , the same as any retail copy did.

New systems with OEM Windows 10 have the potential to be problematic though.
