See, Dual Core processors are pretty much the lowest of the low. Quad core processors tends to be the norm and there is 100s of processors using that amount.

However, a few Tri-Core's exist and i'm wondering if you're looking for performance on a very tight budget is tri-core the way to to go, or are Quad Core's nowadays ALWAYS the better option in terms of price and performance?

It really really depends on what you intend to do with it.

There are extremely few modern tri-core processors, limited to a single AMD A6 model and just the Phenom/Athlon II x3s, but they're otherwise dead.

If you are on a budget and wanting to choose a tricore, the best bet would be to go for a Phenom II X3 and go for a cheap dedicated GPU.

The tri-core A6 and Athlon II X3 are more or less completely niche products.

I used to use a Phenom II X3 based machine, and it worked wonderfully.

If you are looking to build a machine, what is your budget? We can suggest more from there.

There are very few programs that use exclusively tri-core and not just dual or quad core support. The only two I remember are Dolphin and PCSX2 IIRC.

Exactly- It's so niche so would it be even worth?

And yes, i was looking into building but after something that suited me for 344 without OS for almost the same price as if i built it myself i doubted building was the better option for a newb.

Stay far far away from that. It uses a BD Processor. I can make a better one, give me a few.

Ever so slightly more for SIGNIFICANTLY better:

Thats a brilliant price! 1 pound more for nearly double the processing power and the 7770! Not to mention the 500w PSU.

Yep, thats what happens when you build your own :)

Question is; Am i intelligent enough to build it and can i find enough random bits of junk to sell to make up for the price?

You most certainly are intelligent enough to build your own. It is very easy.

Thanks for the help 😉
