Can the G.Skill Trident Z Rgb lighting be changed safely with the beta version from G.Skill?

http://www.gskill.com/en/download/view/trident-z-rgb-control--beta-

I've noticed a fair amount of people saying that changing the lighting effect corrupts files and bricks the memory entirely.

Is this true?

Thanks

Solution

Yes, dont use it until they've officially released it, ie no longer beta, it corrupts the SPD data on the ram sticks.

Ok thanks. Do you know if they work with msi mystic light?

Dont use any software to control them at the moment, all software has the same effect, Asus AURA, G.Skill software etc, all corrupts them, it changes the colours and the pattern of the sticks by modifying the SPD data on the sticks and doesnt quite get it right, it ruins / corrupts the SPD data.

There is a way to repair them if they will still boot after the data has been corrupted, but its not free, most people including myself for now are just living with the rainbow effect that the sticks come with out of the box.

I know this is an old post but I just bought a pair of them and I would like to know if it's safe to use their software now?

Yes they have released a non beta version and it works fine and it is safe to download and use :)
