i just received my gtx 550 ti in the mail. when i tried to install it, all i got was a black screen. when i took it out however, the onboard graphics worked just fine. after reading online, i found out i needed to enable the pci-e thingy through the bios. i tried to to do that and it still didnt work. then i took the gpu out and tried to use the onboard graphics and now i get a black screen with that too! ive tried reseting the cmos, taking out the battery, taking out the ram, but nothing works. all i get is a black screen. i cant even get into the bios to reset anything =[.

please help, ive worked so hard to get this computer up and running just to play this one game.

oddly enough, i pushed in everything on the mobo, and unplugged everything from the back except the keyboard, and now its working. Yea.... i probably did mess something up, im no expert and i probably shouldnt have went into the bios anyway(probably never will again, im scarred for life) unfortunately i dont have a DVI cord( i wish i did so i could hook it up to my TV) so im stuck using this. now if i go to the device manager on windows and disable the onboard mobo, will the 550 ti work?

First off. Without changing anything in the BIOS, go into it and tell us what options it has regarding video output - disabling , changing etc. Don't do it at this time, but can you also state if you tried installing any of the new cards drivers/software (prob not since that is done after the card is installed and running - but I have to ask)

For myself, I have always had to go into the bios and disable onboard graphics.

Also beside the bios, let me know where the new card is physically at the moment and what the MB and power supply is.

Ok. this is interesting. I disabled onboard video as well .. about 3 years ago. I did not want wasted resources going to the onboard video because I had a separate video card. Video card went out today and am trying to go back to the onboard and having the same issues as you.

Here is the kicker: I was reading through this thread and noticed.. I HAVE THE SAME MOTHERBOARD.. Thinking ... now.. it is the MB..
