I have a EVGA GTX 980 ftw and I was wanting to know if it would be capable of running 3, 144hz monitors at around 144fps with games like BF4. I have two 144hz monitors now, and I am about to get another. I may have the option to get another card just like the one I have now and have SLI. I know 3, GTX 780s are cable of that, maybe I can shoot to get 2 GTX 980ti's. I just want to know if anyone on here games on a triple, 144hz, monitor setup with at least 144 fps without AA possibly.

Solution
Are you getting 144 FPS in Battlefield 4 on a single monitor right now? I play at 25060x1440 but only get about 95FPS with SLI 970s (a bit better than a single 980Ti).

Your triple monitor setup would have a higher total resolution than my single 2560x1440 monitor and weaker graphics. You won't get anywhere near 144 FPS in BF4 and other demanding games with a 980.

Even with SLI 980s it's doubtful. That would be a bit better than my SLI 970s but like I said, I only get 95 FPS and my resolution is lower than what you are aiming for.

Two 980Ti in SLI might get the job done but BF4 is also CPU dependent so I can't even that for sure.

If you are talking about 1080p monitors, it may be possible. But if you are talking 1440p 144hz monitors, then you have no chance... LinusTechTips did a video on triple ultrawide monitors at an insane resolution of 10320x1440 with a 5930k and 3 8GB Sapphire R9 290Xs and had a whopping 30FPS on maxed out settings (including ultra hd texture packs) in Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor. Of course, that was worst case scenario, and you are more likely to be using standard 1440p 144hz monitors. If that is the route you are taking, you will be running 7680x1440, which will still be very challenging to handle. Now, if you are talking 1080p triple monitors, you will be getting fantastic results with 980 sli, but 1440p, not so much. Remember, the higher the resolution and the more monitors, the more VRAM you are going to need, so with triple 1440p you would need a lot of VRAM my friend. (for more demanding games, not every game)

Except he doesn't have SLI 980's. He asked if it was possible on a single 980. There is no way he is going to get 144 FPS in Battlefield 4 across triple 1080p monitors with that setup. He said he may be able to get another 980 in the future or 2 980 Ti's but he only has one 980 now.

I think it's very doubtful that he will get 144 FPS in Battlefield 4 on 3 1080p monitors with an SLI 980 setup too. Check out this CPU benchmark. An i7-4770k averages 115 FPS at 1080p.

In addition to the extra GPU strain that comes from trying to run a triple monitor setup Battlefield 4 is also a CPU intensive game due to the 64 player online matches. A nice CPU like the i7-4770k averages well below 144 FPS at 1080p so it may not even matter how much GPU power he throws at it.

It is a 4770k, it can handle battlefield easily, and chances are it is overclocked as well, it isn't going to bottleneck anything...

JaysTwoCents old skunkworks:

Intel 4790k
EVGA Z97 Classified
16GB Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz RAM
EVGA GTX780 SLI (Hacked and Overvolted BIOS)

And results 1080p triple monitor 144hz gaming:

Chances are, his PC is more than capable to run triple 144hz 1080p monitors, assuming he goes for the SLI upgrade. He said he may SLI for better results, so it doesn't matter if his single 980 can't do it alone, because we already know that; that is why I just talked about SLI results in my previous comment. Anyways, one thing to keep in mind is that JayzTwoCents pulls off miraculous overclocks on all his cards, so he definitely is packing much more power in those 780s then your average 780s.

The OP never said he has an i7-4770k. I just used that as an example. He asked if a single 980 could handle triple monitors in Battlefield 4 at 144 FPS so I felt it was important to point out that it cannot.

Also the video you posted has 3 highly overclocked 780s. That would be faster than 2 standard 980s. On top of that, I never heard him claim he was getting 144 FPS in Battlefield 4. He just said he was playing on triple 144 Hz monitor at over 100 FPS.

Like I said, I have an i5-4690k overclocked to 4.4GHz and two EVGA SC ACX 2.0 970s. On my single 2560x1440 monitor i get about 95 FPS in Battlefield 4 multiplayer. Triple 1080p monitors would have a much higher total resolution.

@Treyhu,

I believe you'll need 2 x 980 Ti's in SLI to have a "chance of getting somewhat close to triple 1440p 144 FPS. In my mind, I'm hopeful that the coming 1080 Ti (Pascal replacement for 980 Ti) will be perfect solution. My assumption is that two 1080 Ti's in SLI will be ideal for:

triple 1440p 144 FPS and one 4k 60 FPS.
