I have an nVidia 560TI (2 of them actually), and I fixed this by "re"creating a "custom resolution". I am one of those people who had to do this in Windows 7, as well, because my monitors would not display in 5040 x 1024 without a custom resolution.

Thanks for the link. The Matrox guy tried a lot of combinations remotely on my machine, and I just got through tinkering with no luck. I'll keep at it, and maybe I'll hit the luck numbers.

There's new software to download on Matrox site for windows 8. It doesn't quite work, but it allows a custom resolution change in the Nvidia control panel, and you can set the resolution in windows now.
