Trouble fixing an old SSD

Hey,

I have this early AData 32Gb SSD that I used 10 years ago, but after a short while it stopped working, can't really recall the symptoms from back then.

Today I decided to see if I can find what that problem was with it and fix it, however I'm having trouble running any diagnostic tool on it because it just seems to lock up.

What I mean by lock up is, if I try to boot normally off my main ssd -while- this old ssd is connected, windows gets stuck at the loading screen animation (windows 7 that is).
First thing I tried was to change the sata port this old ssd is connected to into IDE mode instead of AHCI, no results.
Second thing I tried then was, enabled hotplug on the port (had to switch to AHCI for that to work), booted the pc normally and hotplugged the old ssd. PC works fine in this case, however I can't open My Computer, or any software that tries to access the drive, they become non responding tasks, until I remove the sata cable.

The bios seems to notice the drive just fine, and its size, but that's about it.

I'm wondering what else I should try, or if you know what could be wrong with it.

Edit: One thing I forgot to mention, I tried booting directly from the old SSD, it seems to have Windows 7 still installed on it because it begins to start booting into it and then freezes.

Is there something important on it you need access to? Because it is hardly worth a lot of effort with today's SSD prices. $40 buys you a new faster 60GB.
If you don't need what's on it and just want to see if it is still working, run diskpart from an elevated prompt and use the clean or the clean all command* to erase it. If that fails, the drive is dead.

Mainly just want to fix it, no important data on it as far as I can see.

And speaking of, I seem to be able to access the data on it by booting via hiren's boot cd and using some partitioning tool. Did repartitioning using that tool ,but still can't seem to use the drive in windows.
Might be some service or disk check that freezes it ?
