Trouble OCing my 5000+ BE with a Gigabyte M57SLI-S4

got the same mobo, same cpu, different memory thou, rite now im running corsair 667, the cpu is overcloked to 3.11. i had to sacrifice some mhz to get HT-Link pass 1100, my current setup is

Multiplier set to: x 14.0
bus speed set to: 222 mhz
using stock voltage at 1.3

thats equal to 3.11 as said earlier, my other set up is

multiplier set to: x15
bus speed set to: 216
voltage set to: 1.425

and im able to overclock my memory to 800mhz

I'm running a non BE X2 5000+ with 13 multi locked. I have home built and modified water cooling. Temp in CMOS shows 31C.

Settings;

13 X 247=3.212 at 1.4Vc
HT=988.5 4X
Mem=247.1, 4, 4, 4, 12, 15, 2T Corsair 2 X 1GB XMS2. Auto Vd

My M/BD is old and a hybrid. Asrock 939 Dual Sata w/duaghter card allowing me to run AM2 CPU and DDR2 ram. My Vc is limited to 1.4V unless I volt-mod the M/BD which I have chosen not to do with this set-up.

MY current GPU is a PCI-E EVGA 7800 GTX 256 running at 477/1332 w/fan at 100%.
Temp at idle 40C, load 55C.

I Play FSX for hours on end with this particular PC with no crashes. 1 slider in the game defaults to the max setting, the others are 1 notch below max setting. Resolution is 1280 X 1024 on 20" CRT Monitor.

My first CPU with this M/BD votl-moded was a 148 Opteron air cooled running at 2.8 solid with a AGP ATI 850 Pro bios flashed to XT opening up 4 more pipelines and allowing a OC of 580/600. Fan at 100%.

My next CPU was a 165 Opteron running at 2.75 stock air cooling. After about a year it gave up the ghost.

Next I got a daughter card from eWiz.com and then a 1212 Opteron. Couldn't get a very good OC with this CPU so turned to water cooling. Could run it at 2.6Gh if I added ice to my cooler box. Otherwise 2.5 was the best I could do with it and stay stable. Aquired a 7800 from a friend at this time.

I got current CPU about 2-3 weeks ago and haven't looked back since. This is the best FSX has ever played for me. I would like to try a better GPU but am living on limited funds so have to save to do this stuff.

Hope this helps some out there who are using this CPU. I like it a lot, it takes to OC' real good and its the fastest CPU I have had to date.
