Brand new PC build:
- Gigabyte GeForce GTX 960 G1 Gaming 2GB
- Intel i5-4460 3.2GHz
- G.Skill DDR3 1600 Ripjaws X (2x4GB)
- MSI H97 Gaming 3 Motherboard
- Windows 8 64bit

I can load the game fine, i changed all of the settings to normal and still the game will randomly freeze my whole computer and ill have to restart it (annoying because its usually during missions and i lose the save). Is this an issue due to my components?

Your PC is capable running it even on High no problem. Something must be throttling/overheating in your system causing crashing/freezing. Download MSI Afterburner and start monitoring GPU/CPU usage, temps and clocks while gaming.

That's surely a good psu and more than enough to power ur system, if ur system is overclocked either cpu or gpu, revert to stock and see what happens, gta v is a pretty heavy game and could stress ur system, also try the compatibility thing

im not overclocking anything, ill try the compatibility thing and see how it goes. thank you

Ran GTA V with windows 7 compatibility and have been playing for almost 2 hours now and it still hasn't crashed my computer. Seems to have fixed it, thank you.

How do you run in compatibility mode. I know you right click>properties but whenever I try and run GTA5.exe it says "Please run Grand Theft Auto V using PlayGTAV.exe" but I don't have that file.
