Trouble with network

Hi Toms I have a Tenda W311R+ wireless router, I am running mint 12 on both my PC connected to ethernet port 1, and a toshiba laptop connected to wifi with the occasional connection of friends mac-book pro on snow leopard and another friend with a HP laptop running windows both on wifi. I tried setting wep 2 with a password abd the connection says its connected but get really slow speeds and failed connection to web and ssh to another machine. I gave up and turned security off and just kept an eye on the dhcp server on the router and blocking any leachers as they pop up, but now I have two on the list I can't block

router been reset since mac was connected so not on list

The 2 office with the mac adress with all zeros in it what the hell are they, I can't block can't do any thing with it, the un-named one is my xbox 360, and the two address's for the hp-user is the wifi and ethernet of my other friends HP lappy and the pentium 4 is my desktop.

Also the other think is my two linux machines can't access any samba shares even ones hosted on linux, but if I reboot my pc into windows 7 it can access the samba shares on the toshiba lappy and my mates mac and read samba shares on both linux lappy and my pc on linux or win 7 but none of my machines toshiba or pc will access his mac but my pc on win 7 and my mates HP lappy talk to each other over samba really well, and I never had any problem getting two xbox to lan other wifi and pc streams to xbox with XBMC other upnp fine.

I've search google and it comes up with al-sorts of stuff like port forwarding in router but I know nothing about that stuff, truly my networking ability is plug stuff in use ssh to connect or windows file sharing or hope it just works, please can any one help me sought this mess out

Are all your devices wep 2 compatible? Why don't you set up something simple like WEP (not 2) so that you aren't open like that.
