I bought a Toshiba Canvio 2TB NFST HD with software (Tuxera) to use on my Mac. It was too slow to use. I thought the Tuxera software was the problem so I reformatted in FAT32.

Now Disk Utility throws a "cannot verify disk" and “there are errors on the disk” and "backup and reformat the disk."

I do not have another 2TB Disk to backup the failed Canvio.

I found this article saying Canvio can't be used with a Mac.

I an returning the disk for replacement - but I am not going to RISK using it for my Mac. It is a $119 MISTAKE.

I have better luck with Western Digital.

INFO:
I use DropBox - 1TB.
I have a 1TB Toshiba External HD - HFS+ Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
My MacBook has 500GB so it is really taxed with 1TB DropBox.

M y Q u e s t i o n:

Should I buy
-- a Western Digital Passport HD in NFST and reformat it for my Mac?
-- a Western Digital Passport HD in Hfs+ format and use software (?) to use on my PC?

-- a Western Digital Passport HD in FAT32 format
although I can’t find this online.
(Which is fine and I”m not worried about the 4MG confines.)

Solution
I'm only going to address one little part of that. I suggest that you get the Passport in Hfs+ format and use software to read it on your PC. That's what we do with my daughter's Macbook.
