I ordered a Seagate 500 GB external HD about 5 weeks ago, and upon arrival, I wasn't able to get it to work. I can't initialize the disk, and it's giving me a cyclical redundancy error every time I try to initialize, access, or turn the drive online in my device manager. I did a few hours of troubleshooting when I received it, but I'd since put it down. I don't have anything on the HD, I just want to get it to work.

I was planning on doing an RMA with it today, but I had honestly lost track of time so badly that I didn't realize my return window expired last week. Am I just straight out of luck, and it's DoA, or is there a potential fix? Again, nothing is on the drive, I just want to get it running.
