Truely wierd nvcpl.dll problem

On my 2nd PC (Win98SE), I have a GeForce 2MX. It's a good card, but after installing Detonator 3, Display -> Settings -> Advanced causes error - "while working with desk.cpl". Tried reinstalling drivers, installing reference drivers, grabbing desk.cpl from the cabs, no effect.

I then renamed nvcpl.dll and it works fine, giving me the standard windows advanced properties, but not my shiney new geforce properties...

I've asked alot of ppl but no-one knows. Any ideas/suggestions/whatever would be appreciated...

You seem to have leftovers from an earlier driverset (Det. 2).
Uninstall the drivers.
Boot to DOS and delete ALL remaining nv... files from your win\sys dir.
Reinstall Det. 3 drivers (6.47 are the best) and be happy

If you ever go to windows update DO NOT install the drivers
the are offering--EVER. They are almost impossible to get rid of.

Also remember what nVidia told you to do? Remove all old drivers and install the card as a standar display adapter
FIRST. Then (i would reboot again) then install nVidia's
drivers...
GOOD LUCK, hope it helps.
