I'd just swap the RAM he has with the following and you're good to go really:

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£57.99 @ Amazon UK)
Total: £57.99
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Just because the motherboard he has picked doesn't take advantage of 1866MHz RAM, plus this one is a few quid cheaper.
So this is his build refined below:

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor (£131.20 @ Aria PC)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H Micro ATX...

My main use would be gaming but I would also be using it for web browsing and probably some video editing in the future

plus I really need to start remembering to add the links

Hi miningshark23, ive seen your build and it looks nice. I am a little bit concerned about the Memory coz you picked 2133Mhz, and amd can only accomodate 1866Mhz.. so i recommend replacing that one..

The CPU is good but you can choose FX-8320, its a lower price than FX-8350 but still the same performance if you overclock it.

The CPU Cooler is nice, try to consider hyper evo 212 for a better performance.

The Video card is great coz its a r9 285, if you still have a bit of a money you change it to asus r9 290 for £222.00

to sum up, that's a great build!

here's my build for you

This would be far better, for pretty much the same cost. Better CPU, and far better GPU.

I was actually looking for the hyper 212 but I don't think it is compatible with the cpu, I will consider downgrading to the 8320 though and the ram is the best I could find for the money.

You are really good at finding the best components for the money, though I think I might put a little bit of extra money into the case because if I'm gonna be staring at it all day it may as well look nice

I chose a more sleek case as there was a little more budget for it, has a window and looks good.
