I have an intel pentium g2020 2.9ghz. I am trying to buy a new i5 processor within Rs 15000 INR-/-.I have a overclocked zotac GT 730 2 GB ddr5 graphic card and 8 GB RAM ddr3,1 TB HDD.Is it OK to buy a 3rd gen processor.suggest me some.I am a mediocre gamer.so I am trying get everything within budget.I don't have money to upgrade my motherboard for new processors.so please suggeste some or is it bad to buy 3rd gen processor

Strictly gaming I'd suggest an i5-3570, you'll need a bios update to support it. Might want to swap out that GT 730, it's terrible gaming wise.

The cpus you want will be be any i5, i7 that starts with a 3, so i5-3570 will be the best i5, i7-3770, or even possibly a Xeon 1230v2. Not sure on Indian Rupee pricing or availability of those older gen cpus.
Something to consider will be your actual bios, some motherboards will not be fully supportive of the highest grade cpus, especially pre-built like HP/Compaq or Sony or Dell or Lenovo, so look at your mobo website and figure out exactly what cpus are supported. You might need to upgrade the bios to the last published with the pc still running on the g2020 to get certain cpus to work when you do replace it.

Question from bvnarun : "3rd gen processor or 6th gen processor"

What are you going to be doing with this machine? If you want to play games, I would suggest buying something like a used i5-3470 or even i5-2500 on Ebay and maybe a new GTX 1050 Ti if it's within your budget. But definitely a new GPU if you want to play games.

Yes I would upgrade my GPU.but first I need a processor and i think i5 3570 would be a better one because I am getting it for 8,500 rs.Is its a bang for buck isn't it
