Hey there !

I've a strange behavior with my computer (asus rog strix z270f gaming // Corsair RM850X and others...) I'm used to turn off the power supply for night (or a little orange power indicator is perturbating my sleep.) And everything was all right.

Since few monthes, when I turn on the power supply, then I turn on the computer, the computer AND the power supply suddenly turn off, with a "clac" noise. Then, all is starting, and I've a screen with this message :

"After setting up Intel(R) Optane Memory or the RAID configuration was built, SATA Mode Selection must be changed to RAID mode to avoid unknown issues. Press F1 to Run SETUP."

I did it, but it didn't solve the issue, moreover : when I turn on the power supply the morning after i did these suggested changes, the issue is still here, AND the parameters in the bios are reset as their was.

Note : I've this issue since a day I was tired and I turned off the power supply while Windows was booting.

I've 2 hypothesis :
1) I caused damages to the power supply (I think so because of the "clac" noise.)
2) The button battery is dead (because of lose of parameters when I turn off the power supply.)

What do you think about it ?
Thanks!

Hey !
Well that's the idea of my second hypothesis, so I oredered a new battery yesterday to try (I waited so long cause I've holidays now) It will be delivered tomorrow. But I'm really confused : It started when I did my mistake with my power supply, I wonder how it can impact the cmos battery. I mean... If what I did was supposed to cause hardware damages, why the CMOS ? I'm not complaining of course, It's the easiest thingto repaire. But it's difficult to figure out the cmos acted as a fuse.

I have been using pc's for just over 20 years and i have never turned off the power supply on any of them because i read somewhere that it somehow increased the life span of a cmos battery , i dont know if thats true but all i can tell you is that i have only ever had a problem with 1 pc that indicated the cmos needed changing so i did and the problem went away.

When i go on holiday i still dont turn the power switch off and my set up is plugged into a power sugre unit just in case something happens.
