Trying to find a smaller case for a new PC

My current PC is residing in a big ol' Fractal Design Refine R5 case. While I like it, the components in the current build are getting old, and I'm feeling an urge to build a new computer. And I'm starting with the case, because I'd like to try and recycle some parts from the old PC, namely the PSU, the optical drive, and my GPU (for now). My GPU is a GTX 970 SC ACX 2.0, so it's length is 241mm.

The Refine R5's dimensions are 232mm x 462mm x 531mm (W/H/D). I'd like to find something that has much less depth of the case, if possible. Whether involving a mini-ITX or a mATX mobo, I don't mind either, but I'm just looking to use less real estate on my desk. I've been doing some research, but I'm sure I'm missing some good choices. Any help would be appreciated!

Some time ago, I had a need for a case that held full sized components but was no deeper than 16"
Not so easy to find.
Ultimately, I bought a Silverstone TJ-08E which I heartily recommend.
Particularly if you want quiet.
I also wanted a dvd mount which is increasingly hard to find.
I run the components in my sig using air cooling and the only intake source is the stock 180mm fan running at half speed.
It is a M-ATX size with 4 expansion slots.

There are two limitations that I can think of.
Huge power supplies will not work, the psu shares the depth with the dvd drive so probably 160mm is about as long as you want to go.
The mount for 3.5" drives can be restrictive for cabling.
No problem with 2.5" drives or ssd drives.

most of the newer mid size gaming atx cases fix the long gpu issue by not having any of the drive bays block the two video slots on most z mb. with smaller cases you need a cooler that 160mm or less to fit under the side panel. as posted before look at the power supply size. most stock cases look for 120mm fan size power supply. on your desk there two cheap fixes for space. there are pc wheeled racks that lets you put the tower on wheels next to your desk. all you need is longer video cable and usb cable for mouse and keyboard. they also make mounts now to hold your rig on the side or back of a desk. myself i have my right on my left of the pc desk.
