Trying to install windows 10 after blue screen

Recently, I got the blue screen of death after an biOS update. So I backed up my important files and attempted to install windows 10 from a cracked version of windows 8. My friend gave me his product key to do this. But I don't exactly know how I can do this. I tried booting with the installation media on my flash drive, but idk. It just didn't work. If anyone knows how to do this, can they inform me how? Thank you
