Trying to Overclock CPU, Black Screen Every Time

Hi,
Title describes my problem.
Trying to use Overdrive to OC my FX-8350
Whatever clock speed I change to, I get a black screen on all 3 monitors.
I can still see my cursor but can't do anything and I have to restart my computer.
Stock settings are 1.3375V @ 20x 4000MHz base
I can't even change it to 20.5x without getting this black screen, tried many voltages between 1.3 and 1.4
Don't know what is wrong, please help, want to OC this chip as it's running so cool right now and begging to be overclocked!

never and when i say never i MEAN NEVER use a pogram to overclock your cpu and can you tell use what mobo you have so we can say if you can overclock on it

Ok, I thought it was easy to overclock with a program, but I guess I won't then.

My mobo is an ASUS M5A78L-M

you can overclock with software--its just it tends to over volt

sometimes its a way to start then you fine tune it it in the bios

thats not a very good board for overclocking though quite honestly

I couldn't find the overclocking options in my BIOS so I tried again with Overdrive.
I used this feature called Auto Clock which tried a bunch of different clocks and voltages and it gave me this final result in the end:

Last CPU clock is: 4510 MHz
Last HT Link ref. clock is: 220 MHz
Last CPU multiplier is: 20.5 X

It went up to 4615 during the testing just fine, and was running at 1.438V
However no matter what modifications I made and try to apply, even if they are lower than what I got in the tests, end up in a black screen in Windows.
If it is possible to make this change through the Motherboard that would be great too but I do not know how to do that.
I looked at the guide above but it did not help for me

UPDATE:
Changing the Voltage does not cause the black screen to occur.
Neither does changing the HT ref. Clock.
However changing the Core Multiplier does.

Is it possible to OC without changing the Core Multiplier?

i dont think so because the core multiplier is whats deciding the core speed so if you change the voltage but not the core multiplier is wont go to a higher clock

umm well actually i changed the HT ref. Clock from 200 to 225 and ive gone from 4.0GHz to 4.5GHz
