I decided to upgrade my motherboard and processor (since I had been using an AND FX-8320 for years) to an Intel i7 7700. This required a new motherboard, so I got a Gigabyte GA-Z170X Gaming 7 since it was on sale.

Now I'm trying to use the disc that came with it, but it doesn't seem to work properly. It hangs when installing drivers, the network adapter is apparently installed, but I can't connect to the internet. It doesn't read USB sticks. I feel like I'm SOL.

Not to mention I have Windows 7, so I get the "unsupported device" message when I try to use Windows Update.

Solution
the z170 chipset and newer mb are not made for windows 7. you can use your windows 7 key and install windows 10. or when you install windows 7 do f6 custom driver install and have the mb chipset drivers expanded and the usb drivers and network drivers. if the f6 wont work look online for 7lite it a program to make a new windows 7 iso image with updated drivers.
If the above doesn't help then try uninstalling the Network Adapter driver, restart the computer and it will be reinstalled automatically and correctly. If that doesn't work, try updating it.

Peace.
