I’ve had my PC for a while and I think it’s time to get some new parts, I’m not quite sure where to start, a little bit new to all of the hardware stuff, but I’m willing to spend around $300 to just make it a little better, preferably to be able able to play rust.
CurrentSpecs:
Motherboard- 760GMA-P34 (FX)
Processor- AMD(FX)tm-6300 Six core
Ram: 8 Gigs
Graphics: Radeon RX460 2048MB

Your card is still good enough as an entry level GPU. Your AMD platform is old and obsolete by now.
You need to upgrade to a modern platform like Ryzen or Coffeelake(recommended for gaming).

You can spend a little more and get the i5-8400. That will last you a whole lot longer than the i3.

i7-920 is going to out perform the AMD FX Series anyways. Not a good comparison to make in terms of system bottlenecks.

AMD has always been behind intel in terms of gaming performance. So, if you're not on at least ryzen for AMD, it is very likely that you are very behind in what today's performance chips have to offer.
