GPU: Nvidia GeForce GT635
Monitor: Dell 2208WFP (1680 x 1050 @ 59hz)
GeForce Game Ready Driver: 368.81

There are no available windows updates and I am getting the "display not compatible" error.

Any help is much appreciated!

UPDATE: ran the get windows 10 troubleshooter and it gave me the following error: (Image)
UPDATE 2: Tried a new monitor and a different GPU. It still didn't work with when switching. Could it be a BIOS thing? (Have Dell XPS 8700)
UPDATE 3: Updated the BIOS from A04 to A11

Solution
I FIXED IT!
The Solution: in the Device Manager I had some sharing graphics adapter installed. When I removed it, the update went smoothly.
1) Don't use VGA if that's what you're using now, use DVI.

2) WHEN does the problem occur? Is it preventing you from upgrading to Windows 10?

If so, can you SKIP that (because it is compatible)?

3) For driver, use DDU to remove the current drivers. Don't install anything after that until you upgrade to W10.

4) W10 can also be done via a CLEAN INSTALL->
a) download MS media creation tool, run and use to create a W10 install DVD or USB (if W7 or W8.1 HOME version make sure it's W10 Home 64-bit).

b) use new SSD ideally (otherwise carefully backup data, settings, write down program names etc to prepare for erasing drive)

c) unhook other drives

d) start W10 install (if old drive, then DELETE all partitions on it)

e) do NOT enter a key. If you had genuine W7 or W8.1 then MS will sort it out automatically through the internet

f) Finish Microsoft Updates

g) Install drivers ONLY if certain you need them. It doesn't hurt to reinstall most though such as the video driver even if W10 installs the correct one.

h) copy back data, install programs etc

Currently using DVI. Downloaded the Windows 10 upgrade assistant and accepted the agreement. It then went on to checking the system/device compatibility and gave an error that said that the display is not compatible (Image). It will not let me continue the upgrade.

If I can't get the upgrade tool to work, I will do the clean install. I am trying to avoid that because this is a work computer and I need everything to go smoothly.

I am currently using GeForce Experence to manage the driver. How do I check if it is the 64 bit version?

I used DDU and uninstalled the drivers. I tried to then upgrade and got the same problem. I am going to try and install the windows 10 version of the drivers and try the upgrade again.

Try changing your monitor driver to Generic PnP Monitor in Device Manager.

If your windows is 64bit version, you download 64bit driver version.
If your windows is 32bit version, you download 32bit version (x86).
You find version of your windows in ControlPanel/System.

I am running Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I have tried to uninstall the graphics drivers so that it will be conceited a standard graphics adapter and still no dice. I am going to try and reinstall the graphics drivers.
