Hello all,

I am working on a TSPP we have on location at work and someone took the
manual out of the cabinet (why oh why). I'd look at my manual in my machine
here at home, but it's shrink wrapped awaiting to get into the new basement
gameroom. :)

I need the size of the flipper rubbers for the upper playfield please and
for the slingshots. They are worn and need replacement on the location game
at work.

Thanks!

Upper field doesn't have much on it- uses a few mini post rings, black
sleeve posts, one 3/4" ring and 2 "small" (1" diameter) red flipper rings.
Lower slingshots are 2-1/2" diameter.

We have these available individually- see our website at:
www.actionpinball.com for pictures, prices, online ordering. Same-day
shipping.

If these are needing replacement on your game already, then chances are the
rest of the rings aren't far behind in the chain of wearing-out, so may be a
good idea to pick up a spare rubber ring kit. We have these in stock and
available for this game- original black rings or optional white (most people
replace with white- looks a bit better on this game). Verified on actual
game. See our site at: www.actionpinball.com for more info and online
ordering, pictures, prices, etc.

The red flipper rubbers (large and small) are made from a softer rubber than
the black, so will wear out much faster- I always recommend getting a few
spares on these for emergency replacement.

Hope that helps!

Actually, the NEW red flipper rings I have been getting are softer than
the red ones I got just a year ago. They are getting cheaper made. The
rubber is softer and the ends get chewed much faster now. This is going
to be a real problem for operators because that ring, when it snaps, is
going to inevitably trap balls (probably in a flipper/outlane or the
outhole). I hate to say it, but black is better for operators compared
to this new soft red. Dangit!

Operators only use black as replacements,
so it's not a problem....

There is a large, bad batch of red flipper
rubber out there, too. I've got some that
won't last for more than ten games or so!

Ray,

Thanks so much. I'll be placing an order. I agree that the red flipper
rubber wears MUCH faster than black. I put black on this TSPP I am working
on just for that reason. I hate to do it, but we just rerubbered it 2
months ago with red rubber and the one on the lower left flipper broke off
already. So, to black rubber we went. On a side note, this TSPP on
location has been holding up great and has had no problems at all with the
exception of some bulb replacements and flipper rubber/slingshot
replacements. Otherwise, all good. Next weekend, it's being pulled to the
back for a full cleaning, which shouldn't be that hard because it looks
pretty darned good now. Thanks for all of your help.

Most people consider it a trade-off- red vs. black. With red, they wear
faster, but the red rubber doesn't get ground into the playfield surface,
like it does on black rings (difficult to clean off). With black, they last
a long time, but you get the black residue all over everything. Most people
we've sold TSPP kits to have opted for white rings and red flipper rubbers.
Personally I think white/red looks better over anything black, anyday, but
the white/red may be a "keeping it clean" idea by some that order the kits.
Black of course is easier to maintain and hides the dirt.

Keep 'er running- great location game!

Brian,

Check for wear around the thumpers, inside the mylar rings. If you see
hairlines, put some add'tl mylar on there. Also check the Otto lane, on
the right side. The ball seems to catch air there. Check the shooter
lane/trough exit. The balls bounce right on the paint there. If you
haven't already, definitely install mylar under the ramp drops on the
inlanes. I mylared the ENTIRE field on mine to prepare it for public
consumption.
