Hey guys. I bought a new laptop to game on the go. During gaming it would regulary be in the 80-86 range with a spike or two to 89-91. I turned off turbo boost using the power options and the temperature improved dramatically up to -20 c, but I feel I lost too much performance.

my question is: Is there a way to get more than the base frequency of the processor (2.7 ghz) but less than the turbo frequency (3.4)? Can I lower the turbo frequency?

Solution
I believe that there is an option in the bios to limit the maximum power. You should check if your mobo supports this option.

Anyway, in the energy options of windows you can mark the "%" of maximum power that allows.
