Hello All,

Am I correct when I say HDMI-HDMI is only capable of 60hz ? Because I connect my gaming PC up to my LED tv via hdmi but I am only capable of getting 60hz.

I checked the specs of my TV and it is possible to get a 75hz or even 85hz (Will be using for gaming such as Counter Strike GO which higher refresh will make a difference)

But will I only achieve this if I use DVI to HDMI or VGA-VGA ???
I only have a HDMI - DVI at the moment will this allow me higher HZ?

thanks all for your time

I read that if I lower my resolution using another cable other than HDMI - HDMI i should be able to succeed, But sorry should of added my specs :) as below

I5 - 4670K
R9 290X 4GB
8GB DDR 1866MHZ

So i should be able to ? My question is which cable will I need to use to achieve this higher refresh rate as stated above?

Kind regards

Jadc

Sorry to sound stupid :) , but I lowered my desktop resolution along with the game resolution and the hertz is not capable any higher than 60hz still (When i lower the reso other than native the max is 30hz .... driving me nuts

I think you have the wrong end of the stick here my friend , it's not FPS that i am inquiring about it's the actually TV Refresh rate ... Sorry if I have confused you in someway

Well ok then.
Then maybe it's your TV.
What's your TV? And what resolution?
Also how do you know that you are not at full Hz?
Try to set your pc to gaming mode. Most modern TVs have this.
And HDMI is your best shot at this. When it comes to pushing tvs to the limits then, yes cable quality does matter
Sorry for misunderstanding

hehe that's ok fps is least of my problems with my rig :) , Yes it actually does have gaming mode didn't think that made a difference but will most certainly try that setting and then check the hertz. I normally run at native 1920x1080p via hdmi to hdmi and i hear hdmi to hdmi is only capable of 60hz so i was going to try hdmi to dvi as stated will this make a difference do you think? I probably will have to lower the resolution to achieve the higher hertz ...

Which cable would be best to try out ?

Kind regards

Try your cable first. Then try another cable (borrow from a friend or if you have other cable). Almost all HDMI cables are the same, unless you somehow have a defective cable, in which case you'll need to get a new one.
And you haven't really answered my questions
