tv/video card required computer spped etc

I am interested in getting a video card for my computer, i have a cable modem and hav tested the downlod upload at various sites and it shows Download 246kb/s upload 118kb/s is this enough to use this card? what would the quality be like? Would it play smooth?

My computer:
AMD 64X2 6400+ 3.2 GHz
Memory 3.25 GB
Vista 32 bit


Any thoughts on this would be appreciated as well as the brand or type of card thanks in advance

Your video card will not be effected by you internet speed. You may get more lag in games, but that is more a result of your latency times then anything. Offline games are fully uneffected by your net speed

Your internet speed should be fine for that card. In fact, you don't need the internet to use such a card! Like yourself, we are a bit confused as to what you actually want.
Do you want a ;

1)TV tuner card, for watching normal or cable/pay TV
2) Graphics card for 3D gaming/apps, or
3) looking for something to watch web tv?

sorry i am looking for a tv tuner so i can watch and record tv on my computer,tru my cable tv.
i have the following video card
GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI expresss

Well since i record and watch TV on a Geforce4 MX(SD TV from my cable box with XP MCE 2005) i think you are good to go. My brother watches my recording on a TNT2(now that's old)

When picking a card just make sure it is a good hardware based card. If you are doing standard def then a PVR 150 by Hauppauge should do a good job, I have also herd good things about ATI tv cards.

If you are however on Windows Vista 64, then avoid Hauppauge cards since there 64 bit drivers do not allow large amounts of memory.
