Hi

I have 2 faulty Corsair PSUs. I'm using a $10 power supply tester that has been shown to work with another working PSU.

One PSU is an AX850 Gold and the other a TX850.

The AX850 does not fire up the tester at all. No fan, nothing. Whereas the TX850 will start up the tester, but fail after about 30 seconds or so. The fan does not spin up on the TX850 either.

Is it worth trying to repair these 2 PSUs? I'm thinking that the TX850 is shutting down due to overheating, as it will power up again after letting it sit for a few hours.

I paid money for the AX850 (about $50 or $60) but the TX850 was a freebie. I'm personally thinking of e-wasting them.

Don’t mess with PSUs mate, they’re more hassle than they’re worth. At best you’re saving a little bit of money, worst case is you die and second to that is everything looks fine until your house is on fire. If you think it’s a safety mechanism tripping it this applies even more.
