Question Two completely different motherboards, Windows 11 doesn't detect onboard sound device on either of them ?

Hello. So i have an issue that just doesn't seem to make sense.

I previously had an ASUS Prime A520M-A II motherboard with a Ryzen 7 5800x, 32GB Ram and a 2070 Super. Everything worked as it should including the onboard sound until one day i boot my PC and suddenly there is no onboard sound. Windows doesn't detect it at all. I did all the usual troubleshooting and fixes but nothing. I wasn't particuarly bothered though as i would be upgrading motherboard soon.

So i buy a 4070 Super and because i also had a gen4 nvme drive i bought an MSI B550-A Pro. Installed everything and did a clean windows 11 install, no issues. Except windows is still not detecting onboard sound at all. I went through all the usual troubleshooting, tried many different fixes etc but nothing. I even installed a base no updates version of windows 11 and even windows 10 and still not detecting. On this motherboard there is a USB-C connection which actually outputs sound if i plug in a USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack which makes things even more confusing.

In device manager under system devices is 2 High Definition Audio Controller listed and they are enabled and according to windows working.

I just don't understand. On my old motherboard i figured maybe it just became faulty but the same issue on a totally different motherboard? Any ideas please?

Much appreciated

install the latest drivers from motherboard manufacturer ?
Yes i tried that. I tried the drivers from my motherboard website and the ones from realtek website. I checked the specs to make sure i was installing the correct drivers. Still nothing. Despite installing the drivers there is no Realtek audio service in Services.

What sound system is being used?

Bit of a stretch that both motherboard audio has failed. I'd look elsewhere if you haven't already like the actual speaker unit for power and connection. Try headphones as well.

Sound is probably going out through monitor connection (HDMI or DisplayPort).
Select a proper sound output device through Sound Settings.
