two computers hooked to one ethernet connection

I have a new computer and want to connect both to transfer data. Each has one Ethernet port, but they both have to be hooked up by cable to do transfer. How do I get internet connection to both so that I can still use transfer data

I will assume you already hook the older machine to the router via a cable. You can just hook the new on to the router. If it is not close enough you can use a 4 or 8 port switch and hook both computers and the cable going back to the router.

After you do what bill said you may need to setup a file share.

There are phone apps that setup adhoc file shares on networks or just use a usb stick if it's a one time thing.
This could be a very easy way to move a few files if you don't want to mess with the file share.
