I'm wondering if there's a way to run 2 applications on the same computer using different inputs and screens.

For example, my girlfriend needs to use my PC to work on render stuff on Blender often, and I would like to game at the same time. Could she work with a keyboard/mouse in Blender using screen 1 while I game using my xbox controller and screen 2?

The only problem I can think of is the input focus (keyboard/mouse and controller inputs messing with each other).

The only way to make this work would be a VM solution or third party software like Aster. I've never attempted what you're trying to do and have no first hand experience with Aster, but it sounds like the route you'd want to look into.
