Hi, I currently have a system based on the 880G chipset and plan to upgrade to an X79 based system. I currently have 12gb (2x2 + 4x2) of Corsair XMS 3 memory, and was wondering, would it be possible to simply grab another 8gb kit and run it in quad channel with the other 8gb kit I currently have. I've heard that "Quad Channel Kits" are simple regular modules that have been tested to see how well they work together in a quad configuration.
Thanks

Yes as long as they are the same speed, timings and voltage.

I would recommend going with a s1155/Z68 based system, about 1/3 the price and 90% as fast as the FASTEST s2011 cpu. Plus Ivy Bridge due out soon will be about 10% faster than current s1155 cpu's.

s2011 is basically and enthusiest workstation platform that's way overpriced.
