Hello!

I have about $1100+/- in a budget for a work laptop. I am mostly using it for writing and study for my job. I'm coming from an early 2014 Macbook Air but I'm ready to move back into the PC space. Writing I do mostly markdown but some word processing, nothing big. But for my study, I use a library heavy program that has to sort through large amounts of data and can be heavy at times and I've gotten used to it not being the fastest. I work from the office, at home, coffee shops and carry my laptop to lectures as well. So I was looking at lightweights. I had almost all but decided on the Surface 3 13 inch, but then I saw an Asus zenbook 14 on sale at Newegg for about 800 bucks. I admit I'm a sucker for the way the surface looks, but I'm concerned I may be disappointed in the power down the road. I don't really care for the zenbook's looks (I'm vain) but it just seems... better. Things that are important to me: 1. Form Factor Small 2. Pleasant to type with 3. trackpad

I'm curious what your opinions are if you have used both or one of these. Or, maybe there is another I might like. I only get this budget for work every 5 years so...

Just get a new MacBook, you’ll hate moving to windows it is truly an awful OS plus the trackpads are abysmal.
