I am looking to upgrade the original power supply that still runs my Aurora R4 X79 that uses the ALX chassis type. It has not had any parts removed (factory parts). I am aware that evga sells psu units in semi-modular, not modular, and fully modular styles. What style would fit in my case? Would I need any power adaptor cables to convert older power cables to power the OEM parts?

It's a normal ATX sized PSU with a limitting depth of 140/150mm. Take a look at the Supernova G6.

As far as I can see you don't need any adaptor cables. All connectors are standard ATX so all the new cables should fit.
So as far I am interpreting, according to your statement you are saying that as long as I fit within the normal ATX PSU size and the type of cables are the same, I can easily go and use a higher wattage PSU?
