Folks, I've tried EVERYTHING. Have read all the posts, done all the suggestions and nothing works. The question is simple: I have a u3 cruzer micro that is NOT recognized but does show up as a "device" here: Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers.
Can't open anything. No files are present, etc.

All the forums have said there is an issue with this for Windows 7 but, I have yet to find a solution.
PLEASE help!!! THANK YOU!

Solution
Have you run the update from sandisk?
http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/All-SanDisk-USB-Flash-Drives/U3-Windows-7-update-now-available/m-p/156945#M1

Honestly though, I love my cruzers (have a 128GB micro in my pocket right now) and have never had an issue (that wasn't hardware failure), but then getting rid of u3 stuff is the first thing I do to them.

I suspect your U3 has died but try deleting the device from Device manager, Reply YES when it asks to delete the associated files/software, and then unplugging it for a minute. Now plug it back into the same port. This will force the system to reload the drivers fresh.

Thanks, yes. I have about 10 of these usb sticks all with the same data on them and have tried all the suggestions you mentioned. 🙁
They all work on other computers...
