UAC keeps flagging Windows Programs

Hi there,
Whenever I try to change my sound devices, and other Windows 10 features (can't think of anymore off the top of my head, sorry), I get the UAC "Do you want to allow this program to change...". It keeps describing the program wanting to make changes as "Windows Host Process (RunDll32)". Of course, it's just a normal windows process. But somehow it keeps flagging UAC asking for my permission, when it should automatically be allowed. Is there anyway to fix this? I've never heard of anyone else with the problem, so somehow I think it could be malware, even though it's located in the system32 folder, like you would imagine.

Thanks!

Hi, this seems to be a tough one. It's difficult to find others with this problem and when you do they usually don't get the answers they want.

No answer on this one. This person does an repair install to fix it.

Another similar one, unresolved.

This one leads you to the SFC command. For more help on using SFC go [here].

So you can try the SFC solution but I'm guessing it won't help.

Make sure that your UAC settings are not on the top notch:

You may want to try the free version of Malwarebytes 3, but something tells me this isn't a virus and more likely a registry problem. If you have turned on System Restore and have a restore point then I would recommend trying that.

Another option but this one is difficult to do if you are not experienced with DOS commands.

This may or may not work at all, I just don't know. If the problem is within the registry (as I suspect) then this may fix it. May not. Read it very carefully if you decide to try it.

The next best solution may be a [repair install] where you can choose to keep files and programs intact. You may want to wait a day or two and see if anyone else replies before doing that. Who knows, someone else may have a simple and quick solution.

Thanks for all the options! I would probably go ahead and do the repair install, but for something as little as this, I don't think there's a point. Would rather just put up with it than go through all the struggle of redownloading everything. I checked my UAC settings as well, and their on the recommended.

I think I'm just going to leave it. If there was some simple fix for it, than I would probably go ahead and do it, but considering its nothing more than a second of my time every once in a while, I'd rather not take the time finding other solutions.

Thanks so much for the help!
