Hello,

I'm hoping someone is more familiar with this than I am.

My friend has a Windows 7 laptop and when he logs in he gets a UAC prompt asking permission for udrive.exe to run. He doesn't know what udrive is or where it came from.

Udrive isn't listed in the installed programs list. I did find the file Udrive.exe on c:\ but I can't find what's trying to run it. There's nothing in the startup folder, I checked in msconfig and it's not listed in the startup items. I also searched the registry for udrive.exe and didn't come up with anything.

I renamed the file and now the UAC prompt doesn't come up but that doesn't really seem like a fix to me. I'd kind of like to know why it was trying to run.

Thanks!

Hello hansenator,

Is there by any chance a flash drive plugged in?
I seem to remember an autorun file on some flash drives that would launch a document manager upon plugging into the system. I believe this may have been called UDrive. Sounds weird that the UDrive.exe would be located on the computer if this is the case, but worth checking anyhow.
