What a lame way to justify day 1 patches...
Also, what a way to troll your server maintenance technicians, all those peeps preload the game, just to "stress test" their servers again at launch? I bet they had a tonne of fun fixing the overloading issues.
What next? Day 1 patch on a CD mail to your home by request? I swear, people used to do business, not just piss-off customers.

They were complaining about the FOV on twitter so they obviously have internet. The "I don't have internet excuse" is old, just buy the game you cheap ass thieves. They need to get rid of the name pirate, because we have glorified pirates and made them cool. Just call them what they are thieves, would you walk into best buy and steal a boxed copy of the game? Downloading it online illegally has the same effect.

the thing is most don't want that steam or whoevers malware on there drive as I stated above in my 2ed post here why else is it needed ??? full access to your hard drive that's all and who want a stranger where ever in the world its at to have that ??? plus pay for them to do so?? not me

Just because he/she is experiencing issues, doesn't mean he/she pirated the game. Could simply just be a bug that Ubi didn't fix.

I'm amused at how this article and Ubisoft's PR guy seem to think pirated games don't get patches too. Even though Farcry4 leaked 3 days before official release, and seemed to be largely unplayable because of it, the day 1 patch was out and cracked that same day for piraters. So, not sure if the people complaining are bad at pirating or if Ubisoft is taking a free swing at their own faults at the pirates expense.

Either way, think Ubisoft kinda failed their troll attempt. What with their attempt at DRM years ago, people who pay usually get the short end of the stick. Oh, and this article on Tom's Hardware needed better research.
True.... let us tell the truth here: 'pirates' are really people sharing the games among themselves and it is free advertising for these companies. If sometime in the future the people are able to afford the actual legitimate thing in question? They will usually buy.
Let us also admit that games are OVERPRICED today. Seriously overpriced.... 60 dollars for a game then 40 dollars on top of that for DLC? Frick no.... too expensive in the real world, in some cases that is 1/8th of a person's monthly take-home pay!
Lower the prices to a legitimate level and maybe people will not share your games and crack your games anymore. Worked for a lot of F2P companies.

haha ubisoft you sure are funny and a troll master.
man such a legit company, Hey Ubi tell em how 24fps on unity is more cinematic on console. man you gonna die laughing when you here this one!

What part of "according to Ubisoft" do you not comprehend? :pfff:

Regardless if this was intended or not, I applaud Ubisoft in that they finally found a way to pinpoint thieves. Release a (broken) game where the only way to fix it is to have the key registered to Uplay, the only place that they can patch the issue. I'm not a fan of DRM, but piracy is way beyond the point of, "oh, we should do something about this." If you have a legit copy of the game, you only need to be online to patch the game.

I´m trying to play with AMD cards but the game stutters like hell... Does this mean I pirated the game?!!!!!!!

Companies complaint about piracy but release games half baked (hal ported).

Yes, you guessed, I bought SimCity.

If I was the developer, I would make it on purpose. Patch it through on release date so only authenticated buyers get it fixed. =)
(if you want it free, you can't complaint)

Because cracked games are impossible to patch ... hurr durr ... Dude! If you really think that ... well ... i guess you still would be one of the brightest brains at Ubisoft.

Who said I pirate games? I never pirate games and never encourage anyone to do so, but in the case of Ubisoft, all I'm saying is that they shouldn't be surprised to see their games pirated.

never said that...
only way a company has to defeat piracy is by a continuous release of new patches in order to get them tired or too slow to keep up.
and server side accounts providing only client side contained software to who buys the game.
doesn't make it impossible, makes it harder and quit on the long run.
dunno what they're going to invent next though.

if you don't like it or don't want to pay it, don't.
doesn't make it a bad call to patch things on release date leaving whoever pirates the software or uses the pirated versions with botched ones. hurr durr ...

believe me .... it would be much more painful for the paying customer than for the pirate. It always was that way. Thats why everyone hates DRM. Only trouble for paying customers, while pirates are not affected at all.

More of those genious ideas? I kinda think now, that you are already employed at Ubisoft ....

And well ... YOU actually said, that only authorized customers will get the patch -> pirated games are unable to patch. That is exactly what YOU said!

Oh right, so very bad of me.
My mistake.

No I do not work at Ubisoft, but I sure don't see a company that make games as the enemy.
Don't like them, don't buy it, and by consequence, don't play it.
If you're complaining about a game that in its pirated version has a bug on release, are you joking?

The ones who paid got it fixed, happens all the time in any kind of software release these days.
Don't like that either?
Well, eager markets are to blame and their impossible to achieve release dates.

So yeah, I would release games with a bugs pending and patch them to clients who paid for the game on release date.
And yeah, by server authentication, not touching DRM, thats old news.
Oh, it can be cracked, amazing.
I bet it would be easier to buy it than having to crack it all the time.
But thats just me, it seems.

Its not about having bugs on release day! Thats unfortunatly normal these days. Its about telling that everyone who doesnt download the patch asap is a pirate! There are various reasons why a paying customer doesnt have the patch installed, yet he is titled a pirate by Ubisoft!

oooh, that's naive from you and a distribution problem.
if you bought it and you feel targeted, just download the patch and complaint to them about how they suck at distributing it (I'll sign below on that).

do you really want me to believe that people buy a pc game, who needs to have a internet connection to patch, and which needs to have it on the box, that they didn't know and are now being wrongly named pirates?

ok, i'll bite.

are you kidding with that?
you must be.
and since you are, then I will too:

*plays the song of "the sad pirate that mingles among the victims and urges them to riot" on the world's smallest violin*

using others peoples lousy internet connections to generalize and make it an valid excuse its really pitiful.
dunno if you're naive or if you think I am that naive.
bye.

Pirates are always one step ahead when it comes to dodging tricky game companies. Oh remember the Chicken "glitch" for Crysis, or the super wobbly cam in GTA IV?

All patched. There's no point in trying to stop piracy, it's like trying to stop a massive wave with just your hand. Unless of course a sizable force of people the world over suddenly band up and declare war upon pirates, but we all know that's not gonna happen anytime soon 😉
