Ubuntu Boot SSD

That is, I want to install the OS on it and boot it from there so boot time is faster. All other files will be going in a 1tb HDD.

There's far more space on a 128GB disk than Ubuntu will ever need - even Windows can fit in there.

You probably won't be able to time it takes to boot, it will be over before you know it.

So why do people recommend 128gb or more for this purpose? Isn't it just possible to get a 64gb one or something?

The price difference is hardly worth not buying the 128 and one day you might want to put Windows or some other flavours of Linux on to the spare space. You can use the spaare space to backup data from other systems.

I'm guessing around 124GB. I use Mint on a 4GB SdCard which I made bootable to use it on occasions in a mainly WIndows laptop
