[SOLVED] Ugrade to i510400f or ryzen 3600 build?

Which is better? Australia

I5 10400f ($210)
With either asrock b460 pro4($130) or asrock b460phantom gaming 4($140) or asrock b460 steel legend ($160)?
Would i need an aftermarket cooler for cpu to keep it stable at 4ghz on these mobo? As im unsure which mobo has better vrm
Or
Ryzen 3600($315)
I havent really checked for a better ryzen option but if someone could recommened a better combonation that may be cheaper than the 10400f only looked for 10400f as $100 cheaper

The ram on 10400f will only be 2666mhz and 3200mhz for ryzen for what im after. Im primarily gaming and not really looking to have a future upgrade path as i will want these new parts to last another 4 years or so.

Im upgrading from r9 280 3gb gigabyte lol, maybe a 1660 super or rtx 2060. What do you think about buying used 1070's or 1080's?
I am reluctant to get or recommend used GPUs (unless at least a year warranty is offered), since you never know how the GPU was used or abused.

Yes, the Intel cooler will not handle gaming.

You think the asrock b460 pro4 has good enough vrm n heatsinks to support turbo boost to 4ghz on all cores? Cause i see in gaming benchmarks the cpu all cores go stable 4ghz but most of them use z490 mobo.

They perform about the same in games so I would get whichever is cheaper.

An aftermarker cooler is recommended, but you won't be able to choose or tinker the speed of the CPU. The i5 10400f is a locked processor so it will run at diferente speeds depending on workload, temperature, power, etc. It could reach up to 4.3GHz on a single core.
The Asrock B460 Pro4 will suffice.
The air flow on the PC case is also important. An aftermarket cooler won't do much on air flow restricted PC cases.

So long long term the i5 10400f still good long term use? Or should i also wait for these upcoming 11th gen intel cpus with the b560 mobo which can supposedly support 3200mhz ram n above xmp profile?

The ASRock B460 Pro is fine, but you won't be able to make the CPU run at 4GHz on all cores. To do that you will need a Z490 motherboard , which allows tweaking the base clock (it might not work on all Z490 chipsets).
By the way running the CPU at 4GHz will hurt gaming performance. The CPU won't be able to run at its boost speed (4.3GHz) which many games take advantage.
If you want a CPU capable of OCing, then go with the Core i5-10600K and a Z490 motherboard and you will be able to ge 3200MHz RAM or even faster.

Ye i will just stick with b460 mobo n aftermarket cooler thanks. I just meant something to last long term to be able to playing upcoming new games in future but thats more dependant on gpu i guess. I will probably try n buy a new gpu as well apart from used.

What ram and nvme could you recommend? I was looking at these combinations.

You should select the motherboard, then select the RAM according to the motherboard specs.

That SSD is fine, above 900 Megabytes Per Second (MB/s), you won't notice the difference on day to day regular usage tasks.
