Hey, if you are still active, I wanted to ask, how did it go?

I've recently ordered a VG278QE, and was wondering if they drivers you put out are gonna work well with it?

As a side note, I currently own a 6950 (and a GT620 slave), and will be upgrading to a 300 series xfire duo when they are released later this year. Will this method work on both AMD cards?

best bet is to avoid 3DVision monitors or anything needing an emitter. passive is the way to go.

it is proven since the start of this thread that this OP is offering a load of crap.

the LG D2743 I have works great using TriDef software through my 7870 with AMD's HD3D, but limited to 30hz @ 1080p. switched to DVI-D and can achieve 60hz 1080p but there is a problem with the FPR 3D effect, have to use SBS for decent effect.
3D also works great through my NVidia 770 on the D2743 with TriDef. automatically determines the FPR settings, looks awesome, 60hz 1080p with no problem.

really sucks 3D seems to be losing it's support just after I've gotten into it. TriDef has given up on new game profiles except a new update with a few every 6 months or so. iz3D is dead. barely any new games come with built-in 3D support.

I have Tridef and 3D Vision both. I usually try every game with both 3D Vision and Tridef software to see how things are supported. Even games which seem to look more correct out of the box on Tridef, I have always ended up with using 3D Vision. Tridef seems to cause a huge bottleneck, severely limiting your FPS in comparison to 3D Vision.

Passive versus active is up for debate. I haven't used passive, only that every review and person who uses it, finds text is horribly blurry. The resolution is half that of active displays (every other line is not seen by one eye or the other), but there is no ghosting and you can use those passive glasses.

Most seem to like active, but some prefer passive.

Anyways, due to performance reasons, and 3D Vision only supporting active displays, I'll stick with 3D Vision.

Hey I wanted to know doesn't the VG248qe a native 3d monitor ? If it is why use the emitter thing u said? Next question is I want to use display ports instead of dvi. Will the solution work ?next please suggest monitors that don't require the emitter

if you're using active glasses you have to use the emitter or there is no 3D effect. and the emitter doesn't work with passive displays.

The VG248QE is advertised as 3D ready, but it does not have a built in emitter. It does have Lightboost support for 3D Vision 2. It was designed to work with 3D, but they did not put an emitter in it, nor sell glasses with it. You need the kit. I can only assume they do this to keep the price down, as most people buying it are not buying it for 3D.
