I'm upgrading to new mobo, processor. I have two IBM Deskstar UltraATA66 drives, and want to purchase a third UltraATA100 for the OS and most used programs.

Potentially stupid question, but with UltraATA100 motherboards, is there backward compatibility with UltraATA66 drives? I want to be able to use my old drives.

Thanks much.

Yes, and you can also use ATA100 drives on an ATA66 motherboard.
