Question Unable to access external hard drive

Model: Seagate 1T external hard drive.
Issue: when the drive is plugged in, the folders are shown. However, upon trying to access folders, the drive freezes (as well as prevents other programs from opening), until it is unplugged from the pc.

Tried using chkdsk but fails. Also tried using Easeus to see if the folders can be recovered, but again the drive fails even when Easeus is trying to detect it.

To note, the drive was able to be accessed earlier in the day prior to the issue.

Also tried using different usb ports, to no avail.

Thanks for whatever assistance can be lent.

for the model that is the type, which model drive is it? can you find a picture or webpage to link to?
I ask because my suggestion is to try to remove the drive from the enclosure and try it inside the computer.
if you are lucky the enclosure is having issues and the circuit board inside is the problem.
some drives are encrypted by the enclosure and removal will not help.

Sadly figured as such. I will still carry it to my IT Guy to at least TRY and save the folders onto another drive (once quarantine is done)
