So I was using an old netgear router, bought a new one off amazon. Installed it. My desktop connects fine with ethernet, my phone connects to the wifi fine, my xbox one connects to the wifi fine.

However, my laptop is deciding not to.

I looked up on other websites first, trying to find a solution to no avail.

Strangely, my laptop will connect when I disable password protection on the router settings, but that's not a solution because I need that.

both the old and new routers are netgear.

I tried installing a new driver, changing different settings on the "realtek 802.11 bgn wifi adapter"

Tried changing the speeds on the router settings from up to 300mbps to up to 54mbps.

nothing has worked.

When I try to connect to the wifi, it won't even ask me for the password, it will just tell me it can't connect.

Edit: also, I'm on windows 10, and my laptop is an HP notebook, x64

connection is a wpa2-psk

Edit again: Ugh sorry, turns out I think there was a conflict because I named the new connection the same exact thing as the old one, and I think my laptop was trying to connect to the old one, after renaming it, it works now.
