Unable to deselect use a proxy for your lan in network settings.

I'm fixing a friends browser which is trying to connect through a proxy when there isn't one. Every time I try to deselect it, it doesn't go through and reselects itself.

I've run a virus scan more than once, and I've made sure the account is an administrator.


Any idea's?

I cannot even get my desk top (Windows 8) to reboot in safe mode. I've been hitting the F8 key till my wrist hurts!

F8 does not work in Windows8.

try this instead:
