So i am trying to disable secure boot, i have watched a lot of videos. But my screen does not look like the one they have. I am running on windows 8.1 using an Asus i7-4790S 64 bit. When i try to disable secure boot, it is grayed out and you cannot change it. There is no supervisor password to set, only an administrative and user password. I have made/installed both of those passwords and still am unable to change it. Here are some screenshots of the settings on those screens i hope you can help. http://imgur.com/a/QzYBW (sorry i posted a link but the picture posting from the options did not work correctly.)

As i showed in one of those pictures, i had set an administrative and user password, and they did not change anything. I believe you're speaking about a "supervisor password". But there is no option for that under my settings. I only get to this advanced BIOS settings and not the old school one.

I am not sure how to enable legacy mode either. I am trying to upload the picture right now for compatibility support module. Sorry it takes a moment have to restart computer and take a picture with my phone the start back up and upload.

1) Here is the current info on Secure Boot
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh824987.aspx
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn481258.aspx

2) As this is a security issue, and you have a problem with setting it correctly using the correct password / instructions, the TOS of Tom's Hardware is we can't validate that you aren't trying to hack someone else's computer (that you are the actual owner of that ASUS). It would then be the best course, to contact the manufacturer (which should ALWAYS BE YOUR FIRST CHOICE)

No sir, i am just trying to play a game with an addition program extension on it that required this settings. I just bought this computer, i can give you some validation with pictures if you want i have to receipt right next to me actually haha!

Try all three, starting with enabled.

Thanks, but I have no idea where Tom got the idea that we can't help you with this. This has nothing to do with escalating access privileges. By his logic, 75% of the troubleshooting we do would be off limits. Couldn't even help people with builds. After all, those could be stolen parts.

That said, his advice about calling ASUS support has merit.

Tried posting this once I don't think it went through. I'm on my phone now. When I enabled it I got more options for legacy boot. I enabled and restarted and still could not change it but once I enabled it only my secondary monitor was working. Then I changed it back to auto hoping for both to work again and update you guys. But one I changed it back to auto neither monitor will turn on. I'll try to upload and post the screenshots of the one setting i changed.

Like I said I'm on my phone now. Now I have to figure out how to make my monitors work lol. So in the screenshot I'm going to send I tried to write on the picture what I did, but if you can't read . I changed that option from the first one to legacy only (the 2nd option) . And I restarted my computer and went back to the menu. When I restarted after changing to legacy only, it switched to using my secondary monitor which is aVGA port while my main one is DVI -D. So I did not change it back to the first option, I just changed the top option back to auto and saved. Now neither monitor shows anything. If you Skype maybe we could use that and you could help me out a little faster. Otherwise I am fine posting with my phone. Here is the screenshot, http://imgur.com/42HFI0d
