Unable to install applications on Windows XP

Hello, Please I cant install any application on my Windows XP Machine.
Does any body have any solution on this?

Do you have Administrative access to PC ? Is this your PC ?
Note that workplace PCs can be locked from busy fingers with good reasons.

Yes, I do.
In fact, I was actually trying to install office 2007 on the computer and it was failing.

I checked the event viewer. it names a file called fpault.dll as
failing the protected files check. This file was not on my computer at all. supposed to be in c:\program
files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\40\bin

The reason it was not on my computer, i havent D faintest idea.
Anyway, by a miracle, i found this fpault.dll file on the original xp cd, hiding in I386\FP40EXT.CAB which is not a place i would ordinarily be looking. I extracted it and copied it to c:\program files\common files\microsoft shared\web server extensions\40\bin

like the red sea parting office 2007 rolled on to install itself.

One can only conjecture how failed the check for being absent - yet can apparently pass when it's actually there? 😀

One thing missing, why is Office 2007 checking for Front Page Web Server Extensions ?
Do you have IIS and Server services on ? Is it a Server ? Is Office 2007 packing Front Page with the software now ?
